Paul Rusterholz started taking piano lessons and singing in a
children's church choir when he was seven years old.  He
credits his music-loving parents with sending him to a great
piano teacher, Gertrude Flor.  At House of Hope Church in St.
Paul he was fascinated with the sound of the pipe organ, and
with the carillon, which was played by his father.  He took
organ lessons from Eugene Nordgren.

At Macalester College he sang in the Concert Choir under
Dale Warland.  While at the University of Southern California,
Paul studied conducting with Rodney
Eichenberger and Hans
Beer.  From 1978-89, he directed the choirs at the College of
St. Teresa in Winona, Minnesota. Paul recently retired from
the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he conducted
the UW-L Choral Union and the UW-L Women’s Chorus from

Paul is a member of the International Federation for Choral
Music, the American Choral Directors’ Association, and
Chorus America.  He loves canoeing, cross-country skiing,
woodworking and listening to music.  Paul and his wife
